William “Bill” Dillon
We had the distinct pleasure of celebrating a very special milestone for William “Bill” Dillon at Sagebrush Cantina—his 100th birthday!
With 80 friends and family members gathered, Bill enjoyed an unforgettable party at a place he holds dear.
The smiles and laughter were contagious as everyone celebrated Bill’s remarkable life, including his many accomplishments both in and out of uniform. A Navy veteran who served on the USS Sailfish during World War II, Bill is a true living legend.
His contributions extend beyond the war, as he helped develop the first GPS system and was instrumental in launching the United States’ first space satellite.
Some of Bill's exploits are so gripping that they are the subject of a book by Stephen L. Moore, Strike of the Sailfish: Two Sister Submarines and the Sinking of a Japanese Aircraft Carrier.
The book, detailing Bill’s experiences aboard the USS Sailfish can be ordered now on Amazon.
Bill’s connection to Sagebrush Cantina is equally special—he loves the vibrant atmosphere and community spirit, and it was an honor to host such a meaningful celebration.
We’re proud to call Bill a part of our Sagebrush family and look forward to more celebrations together!
